Do facial creams really prevent wrinkles? what age do you start using them to prevent this?

Do they really work or is it all just in your genes to get wrinkles. Cheap creams or expensive ones? How about those dollar store creams...?? are they any different really in how they work. It basically just helps to ';moisture lock'; the skin right. SO what difference does it make how much it cost?Do facial creams really prevent wrinkles? what age do you start using them to prevent this?
Yes. There is collegen and elastin (elastin- think elastic) in your skin. As you age, the moisture level slowly depleats and so does the collegen. The elastin sort of gets streched out over time (like elastic bands in a pair of shorts or something). To slow this process, use moistuizers! Try to use oil free moisturizers. A fabulous ingredient to look for is hyaluronic acid. It's found naturally in the skin and retains moisture well. Hard to find, though. I'm not a dermatologist or anything, but I'd say start moisturizing at about 15 or 16. It's waaaay easier to prevent wrinkles that to repair them!Do facial creams really prevent wrinkles? what age do you start using them to prevent this?
I went through the exact same thing. I tried various products and did tons of research online before I found Oil of Olay was basically giving their product away for free.

maybe it will help but not alone

you must drink lots of waters and but sun screen and prevent rubbing it toughly
Creams basically hydrate and puff up skin to give appearance of less wrinkles but the effect probably is not permanent. Avoid sun and may be try vitamins or something.

If you're old enough to ask the question, you're old enough to start using a moisturizer, daily, as part of a morning/evening routine.

My mother has done this all her life, and at 76, has better skin than most 40 and 50 year olds I know.

Please do not neglect to moisturize your neck and d茅colletage!

A moisturizer with a high SPF is preferable for daytime use, and cleaning with Pond's cold cream in the evening and then applying another thin coat of cold cream and leaving it on overnight should be good for anyone who's just starting a routine, and it will be relatively inexpensive.

As you get older and your skin changes, the high SPF daily moisturizer and nightly cold cream is still a good bet, but you may want to add products that are specifically designed for the eye area, and facial masks that give intensive moisture treatments (L'Oreal has a good facial masque for this; Estee Lauder has a wonderful product for reducing fine lines around the eyes).

Cost really isn't a major factor - some inexpensive items work exceptionally well, such as Oil of Olay - but do pay attention to the ingredients and how your skin reacts to products. Wherever possible, try before you buy!

Finally, add a good anti-oxident multi-vitamin supplement to your daily diet (should contain Vit. A, C and E in particular), and drink plenty of water - caffiene products will dehydrate the skin and that can lead to wrinkles. The sun and smoking are the other two major culprits in wrinkle formation, so use plenty of SPF, wear hats that shade your face when you're out in sun, and NEVER smoke anything!
Wow, one question at a time, please... Genes are doing their job, but maintenance might help them. Creams delay wrinkles or if already existing, they can moderate them. The principle of action depends on ingredients. Some medium priced creams can do the job also, but basically in this case, you get what you have paid for. And use the creams after 28 years of age, sparingly (they won't help more if used excessively).
